Due to the demand for the major, you will sadly have to apply for the major. You will apply near the end of the semester that you take COMP 210. You may also apply whichever semester if you have transfer credit. Application will consist of your basic biographical information and a short essay. Your academic records will also be taken into account.

How to Improve Your Chances

To increase your chances of getting into the major, I would get involved with CS in some way whether it's participating in a hack-a-thon, joining a club, creating a personal project, or becoming an LA.


What if I Don't Get Accepted?

Don’t quit yet! You have one more chance to apply next semester. Consider possible back up majors as well. Some staff recommend the Information Science (INLS), there is an application for that as well, but it is not as competitive as Computer Science. Picking up a data science minor is helpful as well.
